HIRING RANGE: $60,000 – $72,000 Annually
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Housing and Community Development is looking for an energetic, collaborative, person willing to travel and build their career. This team member will need knowledge and some experience in all aspects of construction and maintenance codes. Duties will vary widely and may include plan review, complaint resolution, training, code development, presentations to stakeholder groups and ensuring the quality of factory built structures.
The individual will possess knowledge in all aspects of the construction and maintenance codes, their referenced standards, as well as pertaining state and federal regulations; knowledge and demonstrated ability in administration, plan review, inspection and enforcement of the building and maintenance codes; ability to operate a PC and corresponding software to manage a program database and generate reports; ability to read, interpret and apply the codes, state and federal standards, regulations, mandates and legal opinions; ability to evaluate complex problems and sensitive issues and to negotiate or mediate resolutions; ability to research building related issues, organize materials and write technical reports of findings; ability to develop and deliver training programs and technical presentations to diverse groups and technical organizations; ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple, complex and sensitive assignments; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and strong interpersonal skills. The individual will possess an Associate or Bachelor degree with a concentration in architecture, engineering, fire science, construction management, or a related applied science discipline; progressive experience in code enforcement and investigations, architecture, construction, manufactured housing, industrialized buildings or related fields. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered in lieu of education. A combination of training and experience will be considered in lieu of education. Preference for a Certified Building Official (CBO), or certifications in fire, trades inspections and/or plan review or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment. Valid driver’s license required. Required travel 25% - 50%. A criminal record check will be conducted.
