Aerotek is seeking a controls engineer in Newport News, VA. for a 6 month contract to hire position (W2).JOB DESCRIPTION
The Controls Engineer analyzes customer requirements and develops specifications to deliver fully tested and documented control systems for projects. Responsible for application engineering of HMI and PLC systems for fully automated warehouse control systems. Design, coding, specification and test of PLC, HMI and AC drive software. Focal point for on-site technical and commissioning issues.
The company is in growth mode. There is a lot of opportunity for upward movement in a large international company. You will be working with a 2-3 person team and will spend a couple months in the office designing customer solutions then will travel to customer site to oversee the installation/implementation of the project. Travel is expected to customer sites at about 40-50%.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer or Computer Science. (Will consider professional experience instead of a degree.)
- PLC Programming knowledge (Siemens, Allen Bradley)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience with electrical and controls engineering and electrical implementation
- Experience with automated products.
