Aerotek is currently targeting an Aerospace Engineer for our client in Hampton, VA for a 9 month contract to hire.
In this role you’ll be exposed to a wide range of interesting projects related to aircraft flight dynamics, including aerodynamic source data collection (via wind tunnel testing, flight testing, and computational tools), stability & control analysis, and mathematical modeling of the aircraft flight physics and sub-systems for flight simulation applications. Our Aerospace Engineers will have opportunities to contribute to aerospace software tool development, engage in hands-on projects with UAS auto-pilots, sensors and system components, and put their entrepreneurial talents to task on in-house development projects. At this time, we are looking for an aerospace engineering professional with a focus in aircraft flight dynamics and controls interested in contributing to the development of high-fidelity flight simulation math models for the aerospace industry.
- BS in aerospace or mechanical engineering
- 5 years of experience in flight dynamics and/or MS in aerospace engineering
- Strong MATLAB/Simulink skills
- Strong C/C++ programming skills
- Knowledge of fixed-wing and/or rotary-wing flight dynamics
- Strong math skills
- Self-motivated with demonstrated creative and critical thinking abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and customer interface skills
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly

- Experience developing and/or simulating control laws
- Experience with Level D flight simulation qualification processes
- Scripting skills (e.g., VBscript, JScript, Lua, Python)
